Pitzer College kicks off National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week

Today is the start of National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week. To bring awareness to the issue of homelessness, Pitzer College will be showing the amazing documentary of Kicking It, where it follows players from Afghanistan, Kenya, Ireland, the U.S., Russia and Spain as they prepare for the Homeless World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa. After the film, I will be having a Q&A with students and sharing with them the success of L.A.’s homeless youth soccer team and how soccer has made a tremendous impact in the lives of our youth. With the help of professor Nigel Boyle, Pitzer will be organizing a street soccer tournament on Saturday, November 12th to fundraise for L.A.’s street soccer team. We, at L.A. street soccer, are very grateful for the help that Nigel and the Pitzer College community are doing to assist our team in our preparation for the annual Street Soccer USA Cup that will be held next summer. It will be an amazing experience for our youth to participate in Saturday’s tournament.
