Today’s fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley will be Marquez first fight since knocking out Manny Pacquiao. It will not be an easy fight for Marquez since he will be going up against one of the best condition boxers in Bradley. Marquez tipped into the scales yesterday at 144.5 lbs while Bradley came in at a ripped 146 lbs.
Juan Manuel Marquez took this fight to try to cement his legacy as he will look to become the first Mexican boxer to win titles in five different divisions. Standing in the way will be Bradley, who is trying to expand his fan base and deserves to be cashing on the big money fights.
One question in people’s mind will be the age of both boxers. Marquez is a 40 year old who seems to have rejuvenated his career. Bradley is a 30 year old whose condition his second to none. Will Marquez age finally get the best out of him? Will Bradley be able to take Marquez power punches? These will be interesting questions come fight night.
For Bradley to win, he is gonna have to depend on his boxing skills and superb condition. If he engages with Marquez, this fight will not go the distance. Bradley needs to be a smart fighter and try to box himself into a decision.
For Marquez to win, he needs to use his ring IQ and his counter punching ability to set up different angles. Marquez is a masterful technician that will capitalize on Bradley’s mistakes. I think with a boxer like Bradley, Marquez is gonna have to work the body in hoping the shots to the liver will slow down Bradley.
I see this fight being a great boxing match not an all action fight. Eventually, Marquez will find open shots to outbox Bradley. If this fight ends in a knockout, I see Marquez stopping Bradley sometime between the 7-10 rounds and becoming the first Mexican to win titles in 5 different weight divisions.
