On January 21st, I was fortunate to attend Dave Chappelle’s sold out show at Club Bahia.
It was a no phone event, meaning once you got to the entrance they made you put your phone into a greenish pocket where it was sealed and after the show you could unsealed it.
What most of us were not expecting was an all start lineup.
After the couple of comedians warmed the place up, Hannibal Burress came out and set the stage for what was to come up.
He brought out Chappelle and after 10 minutes, he brought special guest, Chris Rock, to which the crowd went crazy!
Chris Rock addressed the Oscars boycott and stated he was going to go ahead and host it. The Oscars have always been white so that doesn’t surprised him, “If I boycott the Oscars, they’ll give the job to Jamie Fox!” He talked about other things he’s more worried than the Oscars like his current Divorce.
Rock made jokes on Will Smith’s Concussion, “Who wants to go to the movies and see Concussion? Just saying the word gives me a headache!”
Talked about Straight Outta Compton, do you think Cube was writing lyrics thinking he is going to win an award…..”NWA-Ni**as Without Awards.”
He also shared the story when he went to an Obama fundraiser filled with bunch of white wealthy millionaires and when he went up to Obama he said, “You see all these White people, they don’t hire black people and they are the nicest ones.”
Chris Rock was amazing!!
Then he brought back Chappelle and he was on fire! He stated that when he was boycotting Hollywood, “where were they?” Chappelle mentioned that if Will Smith ends up boycotting, he would gladly take his seat. He had the whole crowd saying his favorite mantra, “In through the nose, out through the mouth, that’s the way I like to f*ck.”
The thing with Rock and Chappelle, they are not only two of the greatest comedians, but they are legends because they are two of the most progressive individuals out there. They know their shit! They spit knowledge to you and if you look within the punchlines, you will pay attention to the message they are trying to convey.
It was my 1st time seeing Chris Rock and my 5th time seeing Dave Chappelle. I won’t be surprised if Rock brings out Chappelle during the Oscars for one of his jokes.
Last weekend, two Mexican Legends were on hand at the Grand Opening of WSS. If you are a Dodgers fan and a Boxing fan, this was the place to be. Or simply a Sports fan in general.
There was a point where Valenzuela was leaving where someone went up to him and said, “Chavez, can you sign this for me!” (extending to him a pair of boxing gloves)
Overall it was great event. I also got to meet Mike Brito and talk to him about Julio Urias. He feels Urias is ready for the big leagues and like my suggestion of starting him in the bullpen and transitioning him to the front of the rotation in the near future. Lets hope we get to see Urias in Dodgers uniform, a man Brito thinks is the second coming of Fernando Valenzuela.
What was supposed to be a last farewell to the iconic and famous 6th Street Bridge turned chaotic as the cops arrived to disrupt a peaceful and cultural event filled with lowriders and people wanting to drive one last time on the 6th Street Bridge and Photographers taking pictures of the event and the beautiful landscape.
The cops also got out of hand when they arrested a young womyn who clearly wasn’t resisting arrest or causing any problems. I uploaded a YouTube that shows how the cop went after her and brought her down. Pictures below show her being taking away.
It is sad that cops couldn’t see the importance of this beautiful peaceful gathering. Now, the 6th Street Bridge will have this moment as it’s last moment before they demolish it and build a new one.
Chicano Batman performed to a sold out show on Friday, January 22nd at the Glass House in Pomona. Tijuana Panthers did a great job opening up for them.

It is always a pleasure to see Sick Jacken bless the stage! He put on an amazing performance last night! If you have never been to a psycho realm concert you are missing out. One of the best live acts in the Underground Hip Hop scene in L.A.
Most pits at Psycho Realm concerts are the craziest of any hip hop performers I’ve seen.

Happy Birthday to the Champ! This is a great documentary! I have respect for Ali for not only being a great boxer but for his role outside the ring. Ali oppose the Vietnam War and was a Conscientious Objector, which resulted in his biggest fight outside the ring when his case went to the U.S. Supreme Court and became victorious.

Today is the 55th Assassination anniversary of Patrice Lumumba, who the CIA along with Belgium officials orchestrated. Lumumba was the 1st democratically elected President of Zaire aka as Congo.
